It is reported that the DIC AWARD 2024 International Display Technology Innovation Award has recently entered the public announcement stage, including various innovative non mainstream technologies and products.
Display device products
Among the products recently announced at the DIC AWARD 2024 International Display Technology Innovation Award, BOE (BOE) has launched the "Surface OLED Tactile Feedback" technology. This technology reproduces the real tactile sensation of different functions such as buttons, knobs, dials, and sliding bars on the display screen. In the process of the development of in car displays towards large, multi screen, and intelligent, this touch function screen can not only meet the needs of car companies for personalized products, but also improve the performance, functionality, and convenience of in car displays.
The "13 inch sliding coil" technology product declared by Tianma Microelectronics is a 13 inch pull-out OLED display screen independently developed by Tianma. This technology is also aimed at the field of in car displays, providing automotive manufacturers with a highly energy-efficient, visually appealing, and design free display platform through these innovative flexible OLED technologies. At present, there is no mass production of flexible products similar to sliding rolls on the market. This type of curlable OLED screen provides higher design freedom and better visual effects.
In terms of power consumption reduction, Vicino has applied for "intelligent partition multi frequency technology". Based on LTPO technology and devices, partition multi frequency technology divides a screen into multiple areas, with low frequency used in the static display area and high frequency used in the dynamic display area, further reducing IC power consumption. Weixinnuo completed the development of horizontally adjustable partition technology in July 2023 and produced samples, making it the first in the industry. It is expected that this technology will achieve mass production before the end of 2024, and as an LTPO 3.0 technology, it will fully occupy the high-end machine market.
From the more than 30 device technologies applied for in the DIC AWARD 2024 International Display Technology Innovation Award, it can be seen that panel companies are constantly introducing various new technologies in various aspects such as product performance, product form, production methods, and application fields. Although some technologies are still relatively niche and non mainstream, and may not be able to be applied on a large scale at present, it is not ruled out that a certain technology may become popular in the future.

Currently, in terms of personal privacy, electronic products generally achieve anti peeping function by focusing on the perspective, while in terms of hearing, this technology can be utilized.
Display material products
In the application for material awards, Rainbow Group submitted the "G8.5 substrate glass" product. Currently, the production capacity of LCD panels in China has exceeded 230 million square meters per year, and the panel production capacity of the 8.5/8.6 generation production line accounts for 60% of the total domestic production capacity. Before 2019, domestic glass companies were unable to produce 8.5 generation substrate glass. With the support of national key research and development plans and other national special projects, Rainbow Group formed the core technology and manufacturing process of G8.5 overflow method substrate glass through independent innovation and integration. After years of efforts, production capacity has been significantly increased.
The TCFG organic enhanced non equal thickness ultra-thin glass flexible composite cover plate declared by Tuomi Group can be applied to the folding screen product market. The foldable screen mobile phone market has grown rapidly in recent years. According to statistics, the global shipment of foldable screen phones was only about 500000 units in 2019, but it has grown to 16.7 million units in 2023. It is expected to increase to over 100 million units by 2027.
The products declared by Hengmei Optoelectronics are domestically produced low permeability PMMA optical films and polarizers. At present, the production capacity of liquid crystal panels in Chinese Mainland accounts for more than 70% of the world, and the planned production capacity of domestic polarizer production line has exceeded 390 million square meters per year, which also accounts for more than 70% of the global market. The implementation of domestically produced PMMA optical films plays an important role in strengthening the procurement of domestically produced materials and reducing upstream raw material costs for polarizing film enterprises.
